Support group visit |

Afternoon Resident,
I was recently kindly invited to spend some time with a local support group for deaf people at St Anne’s Church Hall. In addition to enjoying a cup of coffee and a custard cream, we had a very valuable discussion about how policing impacts the deaf community. Topics included road traffic matters, the use of CCTV cameras, and how deaf individuals can access help from the police. I found this to be an extremely beneficial engagement, not only for the members of the group, but also for myself and my colleagues. It provided greater insight into the challenges faced by people within the deaf community and highlighted how we can better support them when they come into contact with policing services. This experience has enhanced my understanding and will positively influence how I approach interactions with members of the deaf community in the future. I am always happy to engage with other support groups. Please feel free to contact me if you believe I could assist or support your group.
